Warrior Woman Lane: A NAIDOC Event Honouring Lisa Bellear

 

This NAIDOC week you are invited to visit Warrior Woman Lane from Monday 9 November to celebrate the life of Lisa Bellear.

Lisa Bellear is a Minjungbul, Goernpil, Noonuccal and South Sea Islander woman from Minjerribah (North Stradbroke Island, Queensland), born in Naarm (Melbourne), where she became a beloved member of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community. Lisa was a prolific activist, photographer, broadcaster, poet, feminist, politician, comedian, academic and performer.

Lisa identified NAIDOC as the most proud, fun and magical week of community pride.

Visit Warrior Woman Lane to experience an artistic feast inspired by her life and contribution to the Melbourne community, enjoy art by Charlotte Allingham aka Coffinbirth and Timmah Ball.
